Martha [collection] : comic romantic opera in four acts / libretto by W. Friedrich ; music by Friedrich von Flotow. 1860-1909.

Arranged in five groups: I. Vocal scores (34). II. Orchestra parts (42). III. Librettos (9). IV. Promptbooks (6). V. Dialogue parts (39). Vocal scores include German/English/Italian editions by Ditson of Boston (1860, 1888, 190-?), German/English editions by Schirmer (New York, 1902: 246 p. and 255 p.), an English/Italian edition by Boosey (London, 1871?), and an Italian edition by Lucca (Milano, 18--). Several copies are annotated as director's scores or stage manager's guides. With the exception of a printed piano-director part for the Overture (Carl Fischer), the orchestra parts are manuscript. All remaining materials in the collection are in English. Librettos include an edition published by the Kellogg Grand English Opera (Baltimore, 1874), a Ditson edition containing music of the principal airs (1860), six copies published by the Theatre Ticket Office (New York, n.d.), and one edition without preliminaries bearing the signature of Anne Seguin. Promptbooks include Arthur Bell's copy, consisting of the printed libretto pasted into a lined ledger with handwritten annotations, two manuscript copies (one with the signature of Bonnie Smith, Oakland, Cal.), and three typed copies, one identified as the "Broadhurst version," one as the "Boosey Ed." Dialogue parts represent 8 (?) sets, two of which are manuscript and bear the ownership mark of A. S. Gross. The remaining sets are typed, and include two for the Broadhurst version and one for the Boosey Ed.
